I’m Lana – a designer and true Küstenkind, raised in the northernmost part of Germany. Creativity has always been the one constant in my life – long before I even knew the word “design.”

I took a few detours through film and fashion before settling into design, where I found what I love most: creating order out of chaos. I care deeply about visual hierarchy, clarity, and making things both beautiful and understandable. My approach is ego-free and flexible – but if I had to pick a motto, it would be: less is more (until the content team sends you twelve bullet points and a legal disclaimer).

Over the past 15+ years, I’ve worked across illustration, editorial, UI/UX, branding, product design, and everything in between. Since 2021, I’ve been Senior Brand Designer at Doctolib, where I lead the German Brand Design team and contribute to global brand strategy and execution.

I’m known for staying calm when the file-naming chaos hits, bringing structure into messy briefs, and keeping a positive attitude – even when deadlines get wild. I thrive when I’m trusted for my expertise and given a clear direction – and one day, all of this will hopefully lead to a small house, a garden, a few chickens, and a dachshund names Polly.

Work Experience

Doctolib

fulltime

May 2021 - current

Since May 2021, I’ve been working at Doctolib, where I lead the German Brand Design team and support the global brand across a broad spectrum of touchpoints. My role spans campaign design, sales and employer branding materials, public-facing visuals, and the full development of our trade show presence – from 150 sqm booths to smaller, high-impact stands.

I also authored and maintain the company’s Brand Book and contribute to the evolution of our visual identity and guidelines. Working closely with cross-functional teams, I bring structure, speed, and a sharp design eye to complex challenges – always aiming to turn abstract ideas into coherent, compelling design.

Brickblock/
ScalingFunds

Freelance & fulltime

Dec. 2017 - March 2021

From 2017 to 2021, I worked at ScalingFunds (formerly Brickblock), a Berlin-based FinTech startup at the intersection of blockchain and real estate. I initially joined as a freelancer to support their ICO, and over time transitioned into a full-time role where I led both product and brand design.

I was responsible for everything from UX and UI design to marketing materials, pitch decks, and the complete rebranding of the company.
It was an intense, fast-paced environment that taught me a lot about independence, adaptability, and finding clarity in chaos.

Freelance

Feb. 2011 - Dec. 2022

IFor over a decade, I worked as a freelance designer, initially alongside my studies and later full-time before returning to part-time freelance work during my in-house roles. This period allowed me to develop a solid foundation in graphic design, editorial work, and client collaboration.

My projects focused on:

  • Editorial illustrations and layouts

  • Print assets such as flyers, brochures, magazines, and reports

  • Visual storytelling for education, media, and culture clients

Notable clients included Bento (Spiegel Online), Krowne Communications, Sixt, IQB (Institute for Educational Quality), Zum Goldenen Lamm Filmproduktion, Sleaze Magazine, and Digital Kompakt, among others.

Beyond the variety of creative challenges, freelancing shaped my ability to work independently, organize complex timelines, and maintain long-term client relationships. Highlights included my recurring column illustrations for Bento, educational visuals for IQB, and an ongoing collaboration with Krowne Communications.

Freelancing taught me to trust my instincts, take ownership of my work, and navigate a wide range of design challenges – skills I still bring into every project today.

Clients:
Bento.de, Krowne Communications, Sixt, Zum Goldenen Lamm Filmproduktion, SLEAZE Magazin, Digital Kompakt, Roadmap Magazin, Kein CO2 Endlager EV., IQB(Institut für Qualitätssicherung im Bildungswesen), Escapio and many more.
